Become a rock pool safari guide!
Completely Free of Charge!
Deadline Extended to 23rd May!
The Rock Pool Project is seeking new team members to run our bespoke rock pool safari events.
Who can apply?
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals, particularly those who are currently unemployed or claiming universal credit, who enjoy sharing their passion for rock pool life with members of the public.
What is involved?
The training will cover all the necessary aspects of rock pool ecology and species ID needed to run these events, so no prior experience is needed. You will also have the opportunity to put these skills into practice in a series of public Bioblitz events that will run throughout the year.
Many thanks to the Cornwall Business club and the Cornwall Community Foundation for funding this amazing opportunity!
What are our Bespoke Rock Pool Safaris?
“Our rock pool safaris are a fun, educational and active day out for people of all ages, based at one of the world’s best rock pooling spots: Castle Beach in Falmouth, Cornwall.”
During the event, guides lead participants through a mini bioblitz and rock pool survey. Participants take photographs of their finds, and after the event guides upload these to our database, providing a report of the event to participants.

Sessions are expected to start online at the end of May, and run until approximately October (however this may be subject to change due to restrictions etc.). There will also be three public Bioblitz events as well as a first aid training session (dates to follow).
Once trained, Rock Pool Safari Guides are paid for their time when running the events.
