How to record wildlife for the Changing Tides Bioblitz

Rock Pool Wildlife

The Changing Tides bioblitz is a local community wildlife challenge run by our teams in Falmouth and Plymouth as part of the Blue Recovery project. Together we are attempting to record over 300 species in 6 hours! You can join in with the public events that we are running in Mount Batten in Plymouth and the Princess Pavilion in Falmouth. Or you can record wildlife for the challenge independently.

Either way, you will need to use the iNaturalist recording scheme to take part. Here’s how to do it:

1. Download the iNaturalist app

The iNaturalist wildlife data recording app is available on Android and iPhone.

Install the app to your device and create an account.

2. Join the Rock Pool Project Community for your area

Find & join the iNaturalist ‘project’ for your area. Using the app, click on PROJECTS in the left hand menu and search for:

The Rock Pool Project – Changing Tides Bioblitz – Falmouth

OR

The Rock Pool Project – Changing Tides Bioblitz – Plymouth

Alternatively, if you are logged in to iNaturalist online, then just click on these links.

Make sure to click JOIN or your records won’t count.

  • Use the app to photograph wildlife within the local survey area between 9am and 3pm on the 28th October 2023.
  • Identify the species as well as you can. The app will give you suggestions.
  • Save your observation and it will be automatically added to the changing tides bioblitz.
