Developing our Crustacean Biodiversity Survey method

In the summer of 2020, Christophe Patterson led a six week project to develop a new biodiversity survey method. The goals of the new method were focus on a much more diverse taxonomic group, in order to

    1.  Provide long lasting appeal to our surveyors.
    2. Provide more meaningful data on the biodiversity of our coastal ecosystems.

We decided to base the new survey on Crustceans – a highly diverse and familar marine group. The project focused on identifying the best time period for the new Crustacean surveys, try to stike the right balance between gaining comprehensive data and maintaining the interest of surveyors.
