Beginners Guide to Rock Pooling

Discover the magic of Cornish rock pool wildlife for free

There is excellent evidence for the health and wellbeing benefits of being by the sea, and no better way to immerse yourself in our beautiful marine environment than by going rock pooling!

New course starting soon!

The next version of this course will begin on Tuesday 8th February 7pm to 8pm followed by weekly sessions at the same time, with six sessions in total

Dr Ben Holt, course leader

Weekly sessions are on Tuesday evenings and last for an hour, starting 7pm on the 8th of February. Dates for rock pooling ‘homework’ are completely flexible – any day in between the online sessions. The full course structure can be found below.

This beginners course is a mixture of online group learning and ‘homework’ exploring your local rock pool site – a great chance to learn about Cornish rock pools! During six weekly online sessions, led by marine biologists Dr Ben Holt and Christophe Patterson, you will learn about our incredible rock pool wildlife, how to find it and how to contribute to our research.
