The Rock Pool Project Covid Update – 7th July 2020

Summary

Following the latest government guidelines, released on the 4th July, we are resuming our Bespoke Rock Pool Safaris. These will be limited to a maximum of two households per session and the normal maximum capacity of 8 people. Our other activities cannot be resumed under the current conditions. Please see below for information about specific event types.

Event specific information

Bespoke Rock Pool Safaris

  • We are now open for these bookings. Government guidance instructs that two households are permitted to meet up outdoors, and therefore we are limited to two households per booking. If households are not in the same ‘bubble’ then they will be required to maintain current social distancing rules.
  • Your rock pool guide will also practise social distancing, sometimes using trays and buckets to show wildlife finds from a safe distance. All equipment provided will be cleaned and sanitised before the event.
  • Should anyone involved in the event develop Covid symptoms then they and their ‘bubble’ should not attend the event. In such circumstances, a 100% refund will be given should you decide to cancel the event.

Public Events

  • We cannot viably run our public ticketed events under current restrictions. We will update via our website and social media channels when the situation changes.

Beach events for Schools & Educational Groups

  • We are currently taking bookings for the Autumn 2020 term. Government advice is for schools to plan for all pupils to return in the new school year with contact minimised between classes.
  • Bookings for beach events will therefore be restricted to single classes.
  • Should future restrictions prevent the running of booked school events, the event will be cancelled and schools will be offered a choice of either a 100% refund or the opportunity to rebook at a future date.

Mobile Rock Pool Visits

  • For school visits, we are currently taking bookings for the Autumn 2020 term.
  • Mobile Rock Pool visits to schools will still be able to cater for up to four classes, with each class visiting the mobile rock pool separately throughout the day as per normal.
  • Should future restrictions prevent the running of booked school events, the event will be cancelled and schools will be offered a choice of either a 100% refund or the opportunity to rebook at a future date.
  • Mobile Rock Pool visits to other locations are dependent on the restrictions in place for those locations. We are happy to discuss practicalities, so please do get in contact. Social distancing is difficult around the Mobile Rock Pool and therefore everyone viewing the rock pool at the same time must be in the same ‘bubble’, under current restrictions.
