The Rock Pool Project Covid Update – 19th March 2021

Summary

According to the latest government guidelines, from the 29th March 2021 members of the public can meet outdoors in groups of up to 6, or a maximum of two households. Provided that the situation continues to proceed in accordance with the government’s roadmap, we will be reopening our activities as follows:

Event specific information

Private Rock Pool Safaris

  • We are open for these bookings from the 29th March 2021. Bookings can now be made via our new booking system.
  • If households are not in the same ‘bubble’ then they will be required to maintain 5 metres distance from other participants during the session.
  • Your rock pool guide will wear PPE and practise social distancing where possible. All equipment provided will be cleaned and sanitised before the event.
  • Should anyone involved in the event develop Covid symptoms then they and their ‘bubble’ should not attend the event. In such circumstances, a 100% refund will be given.

Citizen Science Programme

  • We have now reopened recruitment for our monthly biodiversity surveys.
  • Our next survey period is from 8th to 16th April. Our survey methodology is fully complaint with regulations that are due to be in place at this time.

Beach events for Schools & Educational Groups

  • We are currently taking bookings for the Summer 2021 term.
  • Bookings for beach events will be restricted to single classes.
  • Should future restrictions prevent the running of booked school events, the event will be cancelled and schools will be offered a choice of either a 100% refund or the opportunity to rebook at a future date.

Mobile Rock Pool Visits

  • For school visits, we are currently taking bookings for the Summer 2021 term.
  • Mobile Rock Pool visits to schools will still be able to cater for up to four classes, with each class visiting the mobile rock pool.
  • Should future restrictions prevent the running of booked school events, the event will be cancelled and schools will be offered a choice of either a 100% refund or the opportunity to rebook at a future date.
  • Mobile Rock Pool visits to other locations are dependent on the restrictions in place for those locations. We are happy to discuss practicalities, so please do get in contact. Social distancing is difficult around the Mobile Rock Pool and therefore everyone viewing the rock pool at the same time must be in the same ‘bubble’, under current restrictions.
