We want to welcome you to join us for a memorable day rockpooling!
Attention all nature enthusiasts and adventure aficionados! Prepare to immerse yourself in a day of exploration and excitement at our Blue Recovery Beach Day.
We are The Rock Pool Project, Plymouth Hub. Our mission is to build a community that supports community, well-being and conservation through engagement with nature and citizen science.
Date: 3 September
Time: 12:30 – 3:30 PM
Optional Add-On: Citizen Science Training Hour from 3:30 – 4:30 PM.
We’ll meet at BLOCK Cafe and Workspace at Royal William Yard for a meet and greet with free coffee/tea and biscuits before heading to Firestone Bay for the main event: Exploring the Rock Pools of our local shore!
Prepare for an immersive rock pooling session with our knowledgeable volunteers and experienced guides. We will share captivating facts about the local wildlife and ensure a hands-on encounter with local marine wonders.
Discover vibrant creatures and their secrets for an educational adventure!
As we explore the marine realm, we won’t just experience it—we’ll capture it. Equipped with special underwater cameras, we’ll document our discoveries. Your participation contributes to vital biodiversity studies, making learning incredibly fun!
🥾 Wellies – if you and/or your family do not have suitable footwear for rock pooling, please let us know prior to the event and we will do what you can to get hold of some wellies for you. Please give us at least 48 hours notice.
Option to train as a citizen scientist!
After an enriching day of exploration, you’ll have the option to stay for an additional hour and train with our team as a citizen scientist. Currently we are helping train individuals to identify seaweeds and crustaceans to help assist monitoring species presence along Plymouth Sound.
