The first half-term of the year was bound to see many parents praying for a week that would stay dry and families that would stay entertained; The Rock Pool Project ensured such a thing was the case! Whilst the weather may not quite be under our control, with record numbers scouring the shores of Devon and Cornwall, the latter surely was!

Great conditions for February half term

Safaris this year have started with a great momentum of both interest and success, seeing new species found and brand new experiences had! In the one chilling yet sunny week of half term we had adventurers search our shores throughout the days and even on nighttime safaris, amazed at the diversity and gasping at the colours they had never seen in nature before.

Old but gold!

It wasn’t just the adventurers that had the times of their lives. Our guides never tire of the wonderful job they do and we always count ourselves lucky for the stars that we have. Christophe has been a patron of The Rock Pool Project for 5 years and his sharp eyes haven’t aged a day when on the shore line and hunting for life!

Guides and their gastropods

Another guide busy with safaris this half term, the nudibranch specialist of the team, our amazing Falmouth-based Jessie who has spent years studying the marine world as well as volunteering and working with us. She revealed many secrets of the rocky shore to those she guided including finding a solar powered sea slug in the dark! Bravo to her unmatched abilities at spotting these gastropods.

Fun after the sun

Night safaris are an adventure that can be both exciting and romantic. Who would think that splashing through puddles and trying to find your balance on slippery rocks would be a lovers delight? But that is exactly what it is. Couples were holding hands and giggling whilst amazed at the beautiful life they saw. Passion for the each other as well as the natural world truly shown.

Everyone's happy!

A success all round! No one got wet, everyone stayed happy and science received an abundance of helpful data collected from smiling children and extremely intrigued adults. To take part in the fun and discover the enchanting world between the oceans and the land, book your safari today by visiting Rock Pool Safaris.
