Mobile Rock Pool Experience at the National Maritime Museum

May 15, 2025

A group of people examining species

We’re thrilled to be bringing the coast to you at the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth with our Mobile Rock Pool experience, showcasing the incredible wildlife of Castle Beach.

Come and meet some of our fascinating local species—crabs, shrimp, fish, anemones, seaweed, and more! Our Mobile Rock Pool is one of our most popular features, designed to be accessible for everyone. Whether you have limited mobility, feel unsure about visiting natural rock pools, or just want a closer look in a safe and dry environment, this event is made for you.

We’ll also have our interactive seaweed stand, where you can touch and explore a variety of local seaweeds and view their hidden beauty under a microscope. And don’t miss our famous crab monitor, which projects tiny creatures onto a big screen so everyone can see the detail up close!

At every station, from the Mobile Rock Pool to the seaweed stand, you’ll learn how to identify species, discover fun and surprising facts, and understand why rock pools are such important and fragile habitats.

Perfect for locals, tourists, families, and anyone curious about marine life!
