Register for events, compete with friends, and contribute to science through our BioBlitz Battle web app.
The BioBlitz Battle app is a web app. This means you will not find it in the app store or play store.
You can access the app at: www.therockpoolproject.co.uk/bioblitz
When you first open the app you will be prompted to download it to your homescreen. We recommend you do this to make it easier to find in future.
Our app connects with the iNaturalist app. This is a wildlife recording app. You can find more information about iNaturalist here:
If you have not used iNaturalist before then you will need to create an account. Follow the steps on screen and you will automatically return to the BioBlitz Battle app.
If this is your first time using the BioBlitz Battle account, you will thenbe prompted to register with The Rock Pool Project. You will only need to do this the first time you use the app.
You're now ready to register for the events you'd like to attend. Simply select them and click "Join game".
You're ready for the event! Simply turn up at the beach at the time shown.
You can either create a team now or when you arrive at the event.
Once you have registered using the process above, you are ready to participate! At the beach, open the iNaturalist app and take photos of the species you see.

During the event you can make or join a team using the BioBlitz Battle app.
You can also check the leaderboard to view your score and see what other people have found.
Only records which are verified to "research grade" will be counted in the final scores.
In the iNaturalist app, users can check other people's observations to make sure the identification is correct.
You do not need to be an expert to do this.
