Nestled between Pendennis Point and Gyllyvase Beach, Castle Beach offers a fantastic stretch of coastline brimming with life. With extensive rock pools on either side, it’s one of the best spots in Falmouth for marine exploration. This site boasts exceptional biodiversity and holds special significance as one of the original Rock Pool Project locations — a place where science, community, and discovery come together along the Cornish shore.
The meeting point is on the beach, where our gazebo will be set up either in front of the café or to the right, depending on sand levels. A sail flag will also be placed at the entrance to the beach to help you locate us easily. Access is via a steep slope or stairs, depending on your chosen route.
There are two routes down to Castle Beach — a sloped path or a set of stairs. The beach itself is a mix of sand and rock pools, offering plenty to explore. Surfaces can be slippery, especially where seaweed covers the rocks, and at times the sand may be scoured away after storms, exposing more rocky areas. Sensible footwear is recommended.
