The Rock Pool Project in the area

The Rock Pool Project have done private and public events at Gyllyngvase Beach and nearby Castle Beach. We have 2 sites at the location, Gylly North and Gylly South, both of which have a very high diversity of wildlife! We have public events running at Gyllyngvase Beach and monthly events at the nearby Castle Beach, and we are available for hire for private events at both beaches!

Wildlife Finds

Here are some of the wildlife discoveries made on our events at Gyllyngvase Beach:

Cushion Star (Asterina gibbosa)
Sea Hare (Aplysia punctata)
Snakelocks Anemone (Anemonia viridis)
Porcellana platycheles
Xantho incisus

Hotel & Facilities

Our first hotel in the limelight is St. Michaels Resort, located within a stones throw of Gyllyngvase Beach, an intertidal zone with a rich biodiversity waiting to be seen if you look hard enough!

Along with easy access to beautiful coastal walks, the family and pet friendly hotel has a fantastic spa and health club, with facilities including the largest hydrotherapy pool in the South West, 21 massage stations, an outdoor sauna and the worlds first Cornish sea salt steam room!

Activities on the beach

Beach activities are plentiful, with the resort running classes including yoga and bootcamps on Gyllyngvase Beach. The resort has also partnered up with Gylly Adventures and WeSup to provide watersport activities for the more adventurous holiday makers!

Nearby Attractions

For those interested in visiting attractions other than the local beach, the resort is a short walk away from Falmouth Maritime Museum, Pendennis Castle and Point and Maenporth Beach. Other nearby attractions include several botanical gardens, Mylor Sailing School and St. Mawes (a short ferry ride away).

Dining

The hotel has a restaurant of its own, Brasserie on the Bay, serving freshly caught local seafood, and Garden Kitchen, featuring delicious salads, smoothies and wood-fired pizzas. The vibrant town centre in Falmouth is also host to many restaurants of a variety of cuisines, and you’re sure to find something to do in the evenings, ranging from Barn-Dancing to Quiz nights!

Price

Room prices range from £90 per night for a cosy double room, to £180 per night for a Large Beach House Room. Room rates are inclusive of breakfast.
